Paloba, Javeria2026-04-252026-04-252023https://repository.iou.edu.gm/handle/123456789/629The concept of tolerance is not an unfamiliar one. In fact, the call for tolerance has universal acceptance globally. However, despite the universal need for tolerance, its ever- evolving definition has caused much discussion and debate. Supporters and critics of modern tolerance have discussed the various positive and negative implications of the new notion in society. The active promotion of modern tolerance makes it necessary for the Muslim world to assess its compatibility with Islam. In Islam, tolerance is a principle that is widely embraced and embedded in its sources of law. However, the substantial difference between Western and Islamic concepts of tolerance raises several questions. The main aim of this research is to investigate the impact of modern tolerance on Muslims. Additionally, other research questions pertaining to this topic will also be examined. In order to accomplish the research objectives and provide answers to the research questions, this study adopted secondary research methodology and relied on both qualitative and quantitative approaches to answer them. Various pieces of literature, like books, journals, articles, and other academic works on the topic that are pertinent to the research topic, were reviewed and presented. Additionally, the researcher selected three appropriate topics in relation to Islam and modern tolerance. The topics selected were the acceptance of, homosexuality, interfaith marriages, and celebration of other religious festivals. Existing primary statistical datasets related to these topics were collected to evaluate the influence of modern tolerance on Muslims. The study revealed that Muslims have, over the years, become more drawn to the concept of modern tolerance. The inclination of Muslims towards modern tolerance cannot be disregarded as the framework of modern tolerance goes against the principles of the Islamic concept of tolerance, tasâmu?Asma ul HusnaQuranIslamic TheologyTawheedThe Contextual Wisdom of the Names of Allah - Al-Qadir and Ar-Rahim - in the Qur'anThesis
