This is as a result of controversy that the practice has generated between the adherents of the two sides at the setting of the researcher. The researcher conducted this research by using the classical Fiqh books of both the Shia and the Sunni, interviews granted to scholars of both divide and the using of questionnaire. The study commenced by first clarifying the meaning of the topic under discussion. This was done by explaining each word of the topic and then the aggregate meaning of the whole topic. Al-Jam’ is translated to mean ‘combining’, Bayna is explained as ‘between’ and finally Ṣalātayn the dual of the word Ṣalāh which is commonly referred to as ‘prayer’. The prayer here refers to the five daily obligatory prayers. Collectively, the topic is translated as the Combining of Two Obligatory Prayers together. The researcher found out that the Sunni view on the combining of two obligatory prayers is the best due to the available evidences. Therefore the Shia (Ithnā ‘Ashariyyah) should revert to the original practice of the people which is offering each prayer at its prescribed time and combining of prayers on conditional, since the Shia have no problem with this practice. This would help restore peace and unity among the Muslim Ummah in the area.en-USInvestigating the Controversy of al-Jam’u Bayna Ṣalātayn in Tamale: Conditional or Unconditional; A Comparative Study Between Sunni and Shia Doctrines Ibrahim Abdul-SomedThesis
