dc.description.abstractThis Thesis explores the challenges facing education in Kenya. The study has utilized a phenomenon approach to show the different types of education systems which provide different types of knowledge with different values. In trying to look for ways in improving the quality of education system in Kenya the researcher has given an analysis; on the current education systems, the challenges that face education as well as areas that can be improved with suggested solutions. Despite the many challenges faced, schools have continued to provide a wholesome education to the pupils of different age groups. The reason for choosing this topic is because the researcher has identified that there is unidentified potential if tapped it would advance education in Kenya. The religion of Islam integrates all aspects of human life into a single view which eliminates the concept of separation between the religion and the state. In Islam there is a simple choice either one accepts Islam or completely rejects it, there is nothing like pick and choose in the religion. It does not exist where one accepts one part of belief and rejects another part due to social or economic changes. Islam has clear guidelines on child education. The researcher will explain in detail; the guidelines of Islamic education and how it can be help solve the challenges facing education in Kenya. The recommendations suggested in the study will act as a stepping stone towards education thereby improving self-reliance in spiritual and secular development. Data from Ulool Al Baab community organization was used to confirm the findings of this study. This study also has implications for further research for policy making in the field of education. There is a notable lack of research of Muslim schools in Muslim Minority countries.
