Abstract

Majority of Nigerians lives below $1.9 per day which clearly reflects the level of poverty in the country. Sadly, young generation are severely affected by this adverse situation. With over 68 million youths, the country can reduce the level of poverty by further promoting youth engagement in entrepreneurship. The promotion of entrepreneurship makes a positive contribution to economic growth and development. The thesis is an attempt, to investigate the economics of entrepreneurial activities of Muslim youth corps members in Kano state. The selection of Muslim corps members in this research was to have a representation of the knowledgeable youth population in the study area. The research focus is to: Describe the socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents, identify various entrepreneurial activities by the Youth Corp Members in the study area, examine the factors determining their participation in entrepreneurship activities, Assess the factors affecting the Muslim Corp members’ monthly stipends received from home, and identify constraints to the entrepreneurial activities in the study area.
