Popular Traditions and Customs in Palestine From Islamic Perspective

Abstract

Purpose: This study meticulously explores the nuanced interplay between cultural customs and Islamic beliefs within Palestinian society, aiming to delineate the implications of such customs on Islamic practices. Methods: Utilizing a mixed method by distributing a questionnaire to (100) participants; including (50) males and 50 females of all ages and professions. Moreover, an interview was conducted with five key informants who possess expertise and experience relevant to the research topic. Results: The research unveils that deeply ingrained customs and traditions, often erroneously conflated with religious practices, profoundly impact individuals' perceptions and adherence to Islamic beliefs. Conclusion: Conclusively, the study identifies a critical need for a discerning understanding among Muslims to distinguish between cultural customs and the essence of Islamic teachings. Significance: The significance of this research lies in its potential to catalyze a transformative reevaluation of societal norms.
