| dc.description.abstract | The Qur'an is regarded as a guidebook that was revealed to humanity, and it is the responsibility of Muslims to understand its passages. To facilitate this understanding, commentators have developed rules of interpretation that can be classified into three types: basic rules, general rules, and special rules. Each of these rules is applied using its own interpretation method, and Muslim intellectuals construct principles and ways of interpretation based on the socio-historical environment in which they find themselves. This paper aims to analyze the impacts of the rules of interpreting qur’anic verbal sentences on Islamic theology discussions. To achieve this goal, data from various sources, including the book of Quranic sciences, interpretation, and fundamental of interpretation method, rules of interpretation both classical and contemporary, as well as various journals and books related to the theme and views of scholars, were explored to provide a comprehensive picture. The data obtained were then analyzed using content analysis, and the findings were elaborated and concluded comprehensively. The rules of interpretation can be seen as basic guidelines that are generally used to gain an understanding of the instructions of the Qur'an. However, as interpretation is an activity that is constantly evolving in accordance with social, scientific, and linguistic developments, these rules should be viewed as a working procedure rather than binding guidelines. In other words, these rules are not necessarily applicable to all interpreters, and each interpreter has the right to use a different procedure as long as it has an accountable methodological framework. In conclusion, the rules of interpretation are essential tools for understanding the Qur'an, but they should not be seen as fixed and unchanging. Instead, they should be viewed as a flexible and evolving procedure that can adapt to the changing socio-historical context and the development of knowledge and science. | |
