Sectarianism and Its Impact on the Muslim World

Abstract

This work explores state of the Muslim ummah in various parts of the world as majorities and minorities with regards to sectarianism, which is the bane for the Muslim masses who is suffering due to deviation from the true guidance of Islam. Their whims to conquer the worldly pleasures of accumulating riches or high positions or for political gains have plunged them into distress. The umpteen numbers of divisions, sects have caused violence, killings, lack of security, and lack of development of the nation and have left them in the verge of losing both the worlds. It's high time the Muslims to wake up from their sleep. This study would provide information on history of formation of sects from the main stream of the Muslim ummah, their contradicting beliefs, what is acceptable and what is not. This work would like to highlight the negative impact caused by this factionalism on the Muslim world, Middle East, Pakistan and some Muslim residing countries to create awareness so that they realize and rectify. This paper would also clarify to the mainly arising questions regarding the disharmony due to divisions among the Muslims and will prove the simplicity and clarity of the religion. And most importantly this work would analyze the root causes for sectarianism and provide practical Islamic solution from scholarly stand which would be of a great benefit in shaa Allah.
