Factors Affecting The Choice Of Progressive Education Among Muslims In Pakistan

Abstract
Education has been an indispensable factor in the progression of nations since the beginning of modern times. The Pakistani nation is quite unfortunate in this sense as they have been lagging behind since its independence in 1947. This study therefore examined the factors affecting the choice of progressive education among Muslims in Pakistan by describing the socioeconomic characteristics of Pakistanis with respect to their attitudes towards education, evaluating the difference and effectiveness between types of learning Schools in Pakistan and identifying the major ideological, social, psychological, political, cultural, and religious factors that moved the choice of progressive education by masses in Pakistan. Results of an online survey included 85% females and 15% male respondents, from the age range of 17 to 55 years while 95.2% of them are currently studying and 81.2% responded that they are satisfied with their studies and 18.8% replied in negative. About 23% of the respondents are teachers, 27% aspire to become, 8% replied that they will never be a teacher. About 60% have their education sponsored, 33% studied after their marriage and only 47% combined working with learning. On the level of satisfaction from their learning experience, majority (33%) wanted a transformation in the syllabus of education, 24% of the respondents said there is language confusion, 19% wants teachers changed and 15% wants the fees charged to be changed. Likewise, the choice of education for Pakistani Muslims is moderate (56%), in between western and Islamic education contrarily to research surveys that previously showed the inclination of Pakistani masses more towards pure Islamic education. The study therefore recommended intensive education of the masses in terms of Islam, modern technology, scientific advancements, to be able to meet new aggravating challenges for Pakistan the generality of humanity and the planet earth.
