dc.description.abstractNepal has gone through many kinds of political changes in the last 8 decades. It has moved from authoritarianism to multi-party system to now democratic government (federalism). In the process, it has evolved from being the only Hindu state of the world to being a secular state. In the process of its political developments, Muslims of Nepal felt left behind along with other communities of Nepal in terms of equitable distribution of economic resources. A general perception among the non-Muslim population of Nepal about Muslims of Nepal is that Muslims are themselves responsible for their underdevelopment. This research was conducted to explore the status of Muslims of Nepal (Educational, Political, Socio-Economical) and the reasons behind their underdevelopment and to analyse the policies adopted by Nepal that impacted the development of Muslims. This research found that Muslims of Nepal were kept among the Water Unacceptable but Touchable caste in caste hierarchy. But, deeper look reveals that Muslims were considered untouchable. It impacted Muslims of Nepal not only socially but also economically. It has been limiting the choices and movement of Muslims. Similarly, Political marginalization of Muslims community was ensured through threat of violence. It can be said that the major reason for the marginalization of Muslims of Nepal is due to structural violence. Some responsibility for marginalization of Muslims in Nepal can be given to failure of Muslims to comprehend the demand of time and surrounding.
