Abstract
This review presents the findings done through the literary research of the primary sources of Islamic texts, namely the Quran and the books of Hadith on the validity of providing sexual education to the Muslim community. The beginning of the sexual revolution finds its origins in the early twentieth century during the Progressive Era (1890-1913) in the United States. (Mauro & Joffe, 2007) If there is one reason that sexual education is at the forefront of curriculum development both in secular and religious organizations it would be due to sexualization, and sexualization has been a direct result of the impact of the sexual revolution. (Fields, 2012) Sexual education is the process of acquiring information and forming attitudes and beliefs about sex, sexual identity, relationships and intimacy (Sheriff D., 2014) The Islamic perspective on its legitimacy and the scope of its content were researched from their Arabic content and translations available on the subject, and the results of the analysis indicate that the Islamic perspective is supportive of comprehensive sexual education. The research repeatedly demonstrates not only the tenability but also the reenforcement that Islam provides towards the enforcement and availability of a thorough sexual education system. Unfortunately, most of the research (although validating the acceptability and rightfulness of sexual education within Islam) was not adept enough to include a comprehensive curriculum from an Islamic perspective for sexual education.
