Abstract
In this study, we shall attempt to recognize the trajectory of events in the early days of both the Islamic and the European Civilizations, in which the European (Western) civilization, riding on the hate-filled outputs of orientalism among others, later impressed its hegemony over the Islamic civilization in the colonial and post-colonial days and how these dove tailed into the creation of some of the despotic regimes which supported Secularism from the West over and above the Islamic Shari’ah, and how these repressive rulerships over time created the material condition for politico-religious conflicts and intransigencies in the Muslim world, with certain reference to the emergence of Boko Haram and later the Fulani Pastoralist’s incessant kidnappings and killings in Northern Nigeria. This research was premised on the review of the relevant literatures from notable scholars, politicians, journalists, activists, critics and researchers in the field, and efforts shall be made to narrow this scope to the discourses about the Islamic combative movement and the Fulani pastoralist killings during both the content and narrative analysis of this research. A project research such as this may join up with some ongoing discourses on the seeming differences between these civilizations and possibly open more discourses up thereby creating more awareness on this subject and the attendant unintended effects of the structural failures and challenges therefrom, and importantly, it is likely that more long-lasting opportunities may arise that may bring about some appreciation and understanding of the Islamic standpoints on some of these unclear and/or deliberately misunderstood issues. A world where respect for humanity thrives and where the understanding that all humans were created for a purpose and that purpose when understood and appreciated is the ultimate for all.
