Prophetic Educational System (Selected Collection of Authentic Prophetic Traditions Exhibited Prophet Muhammad's Educational Approach)

Abstract

This research consists of four chapters an introduction and three chapters. It aims to portray accurately the characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of All?h be upon him) as a role model educator. It aims as well to provide an extensive description of the following points (through reviewing and examining the main sources (books of ?ad?th primarily)): a. The Prophetic educational foundations and characteristics. (The base which supported the educational process) b. The Prophetic educational principles. (The main body of the process) c. The Prophetic educational methodologies. (Basic procedures)

The study has concluded with the following basic conclusions: 1. Prophetic Educational System "Tarbiyah" is (sufficient and sustainable) anytime, anywhere, however it needs more research and study to extract the latent educational benefits 2. The Prophetic Education is characterized by equilibrium, gradation, and integration, etc. in dealing with the various aspects of the education process. It isn't possible to isolate any aspect of the educational development from others. 3. The prophetic education regularly considered the three dimensions in education (reinforcement) [i.e. to increase the probability of a desirable behaviour] (preventive education) [i.e. to prevent from an undesirable behaviour] and (extinguish/correction) [i.e. to treat an undesirable behaviour], for all what is relevant to the learner/receiver personality. 4. The Prophetic Sunnah has adopted several styles (methods) in the establishment of values, concepts and the positive behavioural practices. Some of these methods are observation, being a role model, training, dealing with mistakes, direct guidance, giving examples, narrating stories, mutual dialogue, discussion, comparison...etc. 5. The prophetic educational approach is the answer to the most critical questions in any educational system why, what, when and how the process of "Tarbiyah" should proceed? The study has also brought a number of recommendations: 1. The field of education is in imperative need for deep educational studies for the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to extract a lot of aspects of educational approaches. 2. Researcher also recommends educators focusing on the use of educational methods that was used by the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) for its obvious impact on the development of the receiver's personality, because he is the role model for every Muslim.
