Abstract

The deterioration of trust in economic institutions and declining confidence in financial systems highlight the need to reassess the type of economics graduates produced by Nigerian universities. This study evaluates the need for integrating Islamic economics into university curricula, using Bayero University Kano as a case study. The research combines primary data from surveys of academic staff and students with secondary data from academic sources and curriculum documents. Using logistic regression analysis, the findings indicate a strong need for incorporating Islamic economics courses to enhance both analytical skills and ethical development of graduates. The study concludes that integrating Islamic economics into the curriculum can significantly improve moral and ethical standards among graduates and recommends curriculum reform in Nigerian universities.
