| dc.description.abstract | This study examines the influence of social stressors derived from social media on parenting styles and proposes Islamic solutions to mitigate their impact. In the digital age, social media platforms have become pervasive, presenting parents with a myriad of stressors that can profoundly affect their parenting practices. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and empirical research, this study explores the multifaceted relationship between social media stressors and parenting styles. The analysis reveals that social media stressors, including comparison-induced anxiety, fear of missing out (FOMO), information overload, parental guilt, digital distractions, and online safety concerns, exert significant pressure on parents, shaping their attitudes, behaviors, and decision-making processes. These stressors contribute to a variety of parenting styles, ranging from overcompensation and overinvolvement to insecurity and overcontrol. Drawing upon Islamic teachings and principles, this study proposes holistic solutions to address the challenges posed by social media stressors in parenting. Islamic values of moderation (Wasatiyyah), patience (Sabr), gratitude (Shukr), and mindfulness (Taqwa) offer a framework for cultivating resilience, balance, and authenticity in parenting practices amidst digital pressures. Moreover, Islamic guidelines on family cohesion, communication, and moral upbringing provide practical strategies for fostering healthy parent-child relationships and nurturing a nurturing environment rooted in compassion, empathy, and trust. By integrating Islamic ethics with contemporary insights into social media dynamics and parenting, this study contributes to the development of culturally sensitive interventions and support systems to empower parents in navigating the challenges of the digital age while upholding their values and beliefs. The findings underscore the importance of promoting awareness, resilience, and spiritual well-being in fostering positive parenting styles and nurturing thriving families in an increasingly interconnected world. The study recommended that handling the effects of social media on parenting requires a comprehensive approach that addresses both the behaviors of parents and children, also the involvement of Government and Islamic NGO. | |
