Abstract

This research provides an in-depth assessment of Islamic education in Luxembourg, exploring its current state, challenges, and opportunities within a diverse multicultural environment. The study identifies critical obstacles, such as the absence of standardized curricula, a shortage of qualified educators, and limited institutional support, which hinder the advancement of Islamic education. It highlights the dual role of Islamic education in fostering cultural integration and preserving religious identity, offering a nuanced perspective on how it supports Muslim youth in navigating societal expectations while adhering to their faith. Using both qualitative and quantitative data gathered from stakeholders, including educators, parents, and community leaders, this study underscores the urgent need for curriculum standardization, enhanced teacher training, and greater stakeholder collaboration to improve educational outcomes. Additionally, the research examines the contributions of Islamic associations and the Muslim community in Luxembourg, emphasizing their role in promoting interfaith dialogue and social cohesion. Emerging initiatives, including increased community engagement and government support, are discussed as pathways to strengthening Islamic education. The findings contribute to broader debates on multicultural education and minority integration in Europe, providing actionable insights for policymakers and educators. Furthermore, the research offers a framework for addressing systemic challenges, providing a roadmap for fostering inclusive educational practices that benefit not only the Muslim community but also Luxembourg’s society at large. By integrating innovative pedagogical approaches and advocating for policy reforms, this study lays the groundwork for sustainable and impactful Islamic education systems in multicultural contexts. The study concludes with recommendations aimed at leveraging these opportunities to enhance diversity, promote social harmony, and ensure the sustainability of Islamic education in Luxembourg. It aspires to serve as a valuable resource for educators, policymakers, and researchers dedicated to bridging cultural divides and fostering educational inclusivity. In short, the purpose of this study is to review and evaluate the current Islamic education system in Luxembourg. It also emphasizes the obstacles that Islamic Education faces in terms of legal recognition, curriculum development, cultural integration, and teacher training, as well as the bright opportunities for future expansion and inclusion. By addressing these problems and capitalizing on opportunities, Islamic education may play a critical role in encouraging diversity, social cohesion, and educational quality in Luxembourg.
