Abstract

Education is considered to be an important component in nation-building. A Single National Curriculum is a step toward one system of education for all, in terms of curriculum, medium of instruction, and a common platform of assessment, allowing all children a fair and equal opportunity to receive a high-quality education. One of the most significant benefits of having a unified national curriculum is the promotion of social equality. Pakistan recently introduced a Single National Curriculum for schools across the country, intending to unite the country's children under the umbrella of a single curriculum to promise uniform educational attainment. This paper examines the expected challenges, merits and demerits of implementing this curriculum reform.
